The Settlers Rise of an empire

The settlers are back with their newest and latest game the settlers rise of an empire released on the 25Th of September 2007.

PLOT

The game focuses of a race of building up cities in medieval Europe and northern Africa. The campaign mainly involves a war with the evil red prince. During the campaign the player would gain allies to fight against him.

GAME PLAY

The settlers rise of an empire is a real time strategy/building game. The game includes expansions of an empire,the exploitation of goods,exploration of land and the extermination of the enemy.

The player must manage a settlement using a resource based on gathering,manufacturing and currency. The settlers of a settlement requires certain needs so if they lack food for example they would go on strike in the city center.

THE START

At the start of the game the player would start out with a village with only 3 buildings , a castle,a storehouse and a church. It is easy to build in the settler rise of an empire than heritage of kings because the player could just build building by just selecting where the player wants it to be where as heritage of kings the player needs to send a serf to build the building.

This means that building would be faster and more efficient in the settlers rise of an empire.

SMALL TIP

When you are building food buildings to make setters happy during the start make sure you build them in the city center so that it would be easier for settlers to get food.

My opinion

I have been a fan of the settlers series since i saw the trailer of the settlers 6 on ubisoft day. This game is easy and enjoyable to play although if they focus it a little bit more on military the game would be even more amazing and glorious.

I would have to give this game a 7/10 Fun game to play!

Rome total war economy and battle tips

Economy

During the beginning of Rome total war I suggest that you need to have the balance of your faction's money and military.To do this you would need a city where you have built good roads and markets so that more people could populate the city and when you have more people in your city, you would have more money due to taxes.

Tip

Turn tax rates in all cities to low so that more settlers would populate your city fast .

Build allot of ports because sea trade is the most profitable trade in the game.

Try to obtain trade rights with as many factions as you can. The more goods you would be able to sell , the more money you would be able to earn every turn.

Battle and territory

When at war with another faction at the beginning of the game try not to grow a huge armies because every unit you recruit would have an upkeep cost which will take a percentage of your income.

Small tip

try to only have a one or two armies in the beginning. One army which is recruited with your best general to conquer land and another for protecting the territory that you have conquered.

Battle strategies

Your in a battle and you are outnumbered 10 :1 how are you gonna send your troops and general to victory ?

You must set your infantry at the front with the strongest on your flanks and the less experience soldiers in the middle. This is because the enemy is likely to attack your army by the flanks.

tip

Always set our infantry to tight formation.

If u have archers place them behind the infantry at loose formation or if you have velites place them in the tighter formation infantry. This would make the missile attack more effective.

tip

Always put the fire at will button on for the archers and velites.

Now you have your army settled place your general behind the archers and wait for the enemy to attack.

Most of the enemies infantry will attack your flanks. Now while your enemy is attacking your flanks order your men to guard their position. Order your general and his Calvary men to ride behind the enemy and flank the infantry men flanking your soldiers. They would retreat almost immediately. Do the same to the rest of the infantry men attacking your soldiers and march your whole army to attack the remaining enemy ,slaughtering the barbarians!

Tip

if the enemy infantry men dont reatreat return you generalbehind them and ram them over again and again until they do.

This technique will save you your men and save you more money for just training small armies against huge ones.

Description

The award winning total war series released its latest game Empire total war on the 4Th of march 2009.Empire total war is a turn based strategy and real time tactics PC game developed by the creative Assembly and published by Sega.The game focuses on the early modern period of the 18Th century.

Empire follows a similar style of interface and game play to the early total war titles[Shogun,Rome and medieval] players choose an 18Th century faction and set out to dominate the known world trough military force,politics,diplomacy,espionage and economics.

The campaign element in the total war games are turned based but players can direct battles in real time.Empire is also the 1st in the series to include naval Battles with breath taking graphics.

Game play

Empire total war is focused on exploration,economics,the rise of colonies and ultimately conquest. The game is set in the early modern period from the 1700s to the early 19Th century. In Empire there are 50 factions but only 11 are available because of their influences and strenghts.

The player will use complex strategies on the campaign map as well on the battlefield.Just like previous total war games Empire consist of 2 areas of game play with a turn based campaign map where the player would move armies around the globe ,conduct diplomacy,trade and empire building and a real time Battle mode where the player would direct land or sea battles.

Campaign

The campaign map has a same approach as Rome and medieval total war.Players can build up armies and navies to conquer or defend provinces or adopt diplomacy to make advances in the game. The player can also use economics and religion as an advantage.

Battle

When two armies are engage on the campaign map the player would be put in the real time map.In land battles the player would have variety of units such as Calvary, artillery and rifleman. Each unit has its advantages,disadvantages,cost, and skill.

As you can see in the image of rifleman each soldier has a different face and characteristics. In Empire riflemen can take cover behind walls or inside buildings.


A unit of soldiers such as rifleman have morale.The morale of the troops will change depending if the player is winnig the battle.If the morale is low the unit with low morale will reatreat.

Tip
If the player uses the same unit in constant battles , the unit will gain skill and experience which makes them efective in battle.


My opinion

In my opinion I think that if your an average person who just wants to have fun you would enjoy the game but if your a history and stratergy geek like I am you would definately fall in love with Empire total war.
